Taxes are more or less a civic duty. A dollar to protect your property is better defined as insurance. A. You pay the dollar. B. your property is protected for the night no matter how wasted you get. C. If your property is lost or stolen (or torched), someone will reimburse you. Like Health insurance, it's easier to just make everyone pay into the healthcare system. I'm 20, I don't need to pay into healthcare since I'll likely not use it, but I do because everyone has to. Because everyone benefits from me paying them. Not because it helps me. Stop being such a selfish bitch and pay the dollar Apoc. |

He won't pay cuz he is only allowed in the bar if he gets signed in. And Apoc I would much rather bus tables to move up the ranks to bartender than work at a call center and be a university drop.. wait flunk out! And again thank you Pedal! _________________ "Right, I'm being cynical. People can care because they care, not because they cheated. Theoretically true, but gonorrhea fits better." |

Those lockers on 1st floor SUB are nails for storing coats, and since they aren't rented no one can tell you that you can't use 'em for that purpose. They never lost my coat, which is more than I can say for any other method of coat check. |

And again thank you Pedal! Jesus... Rage enough? So when you insult peoples jobs its all fun but when you get called out its rage. Hilarious. Heres another idea people sneak booze in, people with coats have more opportunity to sneak booze in hence taking away money from the bar and is in violation of the Liquor control act. Way less conspiratorial than your reasons but seem to make more sense. When theU didnt own the bar there was coat check and it was still the societies why where they doing it then? |

It's a Student Union Policy meant to create revenue for a subdivision of TheU. Sounds like a tax to me. was it a union decision or a Kris MacSween decision? |

why does everyone make everything so complicated on the U? -you pay a small fee for the service they are providing you and get your coat checked. OR -you take the chance of getting your coat stolen by not using the coat check system. is there really much more to it than that? Why are people getting upset because it costs $1.. how can you expect it to be free, they have to pay for the equipment being used, 2-3 people to run the coat check, plus make some money of their own on top of that |

Why are people getting upset because it costs $1.. how can you expect it to be free, they have to pay for the equipment being used, 2-3 people to run the coat check, plus make some money of their own on top of that I think most people problem with it, is that the coat check is mandatory. Normally when I went to the Inn, I didn't take my jacket off. I left it on the entire night, or put it on the back of my chair where I was sitting. Now, I have to check my coat, and pay $1 to do so. The people running coat check don't make any money - it's usually a society that does it to raise money for the society, and they get to keep their earning.[/b] |

Mandatory coat checks at bars are really not that uncommon. |
|
I plan on resisting this by heading to the inn with a big coat and nothing underneath. WHO IS WITH ME! |

All the arguments for a mandatory coat check are null and void. Either way, there is still a coat check, and anyone who wants to take advantage of it can. Anyone who doesn't, well, it's their choice. I'd use it, but I don't think it should be mandatory. Waste of bloody paper to print the notice. Anyone who wouldn't use it probably still won't. They may as well post signs that say underwear are necessary. Most people wear them, some don't, and either way its entirely unenforceable. _________________ Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor. |
