At least if I have a break, I might have a chance of actually completing my thesis. If I lose my thesis because of a full-semester strike... well, I'll just write it for next year Mad

Still, shitty deal. I don't want to lose a semester.

You've got 22 hours to write another chapter.

Is there some chance (however small) for a slightly-delayed semester? I know they usually try to condense it instead, but I wonder if there is any possibility of extending the year slightly. That would not be a bad thing no matter how much some people might groan; we're better off and less stressed that way although I'm not getting my hopes up.

If there is a work stoppage do the profs still get paid a full year's salary?
Also, what happens re: tuition and stuff if the term is canceled?

I hope they don't extend the semester because that will run into my plan of taking a spring course.

I'd rather continue self-study based on the scheduled syllabus until/if the semester is resumed. After all, we've already paid the bill.

Aren't the chances of losing this semester like really slim?

When Acadia's profs went on strike a few years ago, the students did not get a tuition refund.

That's not what I meant. They didn't get any money back, but they also didn't lose their semester. It sucks to lose part of the semester, even a week, and not get any money back for it, but it's not like they lost a whole semester (thereby losing the credits they would've earned) and weren't reimbursed at least some of the cost.

I don't want to lose any class. If we lose, say, a week but not the whole semester, I can't see the university refunding students the equivalent of a week's tuition. Sure, I'd want my money back, but I can at least understand their justification for not giving the refund.

Can anyone find the latest proposals online?

I can't understand why the University wouldn't make these public, it seems like it would be in their best interests.

Honestly, I'd take a week to catch up and work on some of the things I have coming due. Reading week never does that because all of the professors build massive work into it.

Most of my professors have said essentially "Just take the time to catch up if a strike happens, and keep up with the readings on the Syllabus. etc"

If the term is canceled, though, do we get something back? No one seems to know.

More info will come out tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:00.
That is when the faculty will be meeting to find out what happened on the weekend, and what their next steps will be.
