aren't we all forgetting the fact that the school already had a rink? wasn't it something about the oldest skating rink in Canada or maybe just the Maritimes? wasnt that what the bulldozed to build the science building from?? or am I totally confused.

The old rink wasn't outdoors, it was just really old-school. An outdoor rink is an awesome idea, but it would ruin that field. How about the field beside MacIssac, across from the sub parking lot? Definitely don't think the school will allow one anywhere just becuase of the safety concerns, but I still like to speculate.

The field gets destroyed every year because of rugby and intramurals and is just dirt at the end of the season. Then they re-seed it in the spring. I don't see the harm of putting a rink on it if it's just dirt.

The Rugby team and intermurals arent the ones who destroy the feild, neither rugby team ever practice on the feild. Intermurals arent alowed to were cleats...perhaps its the 80+ guys on the football team on the feild tearing it up in cleats everyday for a couple hours

IF it could be done, I see HUGE potential in it.

first of all you tarp the bottom and pack snow on it so it doesnt kill the grass...and second of all if you look at the middle of the feild there is no grass!

btw im not sure how old the rink was but it was ridiculous. i did a hockey school witht he x-men there one year. you had to zip up ur bag when you were on the ice because of the rats, there were holes in the walls and they flooded the ice with barrels. there was no glass just a fence cage at the ends to stop pucks from flying into the "stands". oh and the bathroom had a trough to piss in old school urnals at their finest...it was fun though haha

I remember skating there when I was young...it was horrible. The ice was never surfaced properly, it was dingy and dirty and always smelled bad.
The elementary schools would bus students there to skate for an hour every so often. Good friggin times.

Instead of zamboni's they had barrells filled with hot water that they rolled around the ice surface after they shovelled it off.
There was no glass. Only a cage fence.
Old is right!

An outdoor rink would be awesome, it'd just be hard to find people to run it. The guys at the MC barely know how to make ice as it is.

Burmac outdoors at the oland stadium though...think about it.
